Brazilian giants Flamengo are prioritising a free transfer for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho this summer, according to Globo Esporte.
The Italy international has been a quality back-up player for the Gunners, but he is expected to depart when his contract expires on June 30.
Flamengo have also been in talks with Fulham‘s Andreas Pereira lately, but Jorginho appears the preferred choice to bolster their midfield.
Jorginho is prepared to accept a pay-cut to join the Brazilian giants and he is a more viable target than Pereira, who will cost a transfer package.
Arsenal are set for a busy summer transfer window. Apart from Jorginho, Thomas Partey is also expected to leave on a Bosman deal.
The club are in advanced negotiations to land Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The Spaniard has already agreed terms over a move.
Instead of triggering the midfielder’s €60m release clause, the Gunners are expected to negotiate a long-term payment plan with Sociedad.
