Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a huge boost in the race to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak at the end of the campaign, according to Sport.
The Sweden international has been in fantastic form for the Magpies this campaign. He has netted 19 goals and provided five assists from 29 appearances.
His exceptional performances have caught the radar of Barcelona, but Sport claim that the Blaugrana don’t have the financial firepower to afford the striker’s services.
Newcastle are expected to demand at least £83 million and Barcelona are not in a position to afford him. The club are more likely to focus on signing a left-sided winger.
This is reportedly a huge boost for Arsenal and Liverpool, who are eyeing a marquee striker. The transfer figure should not prove a stumbling block for either of those teams.
Isak has a verbal agreement to part ways with the Magpies this summer, but the Tyneside outfit could lean towards keeping him if they qualify for the Champions League.
