Arsenal have suffered another setback with Takehiro Tomiyasu ruled out for the remainder of the current campaign.
The Japan international has had an injury-plagued career with the Gunners and he has played just six minutes this season.
Tomiyasu has been nursing a nagging knee problem for the past few months and he has now undergone a surgery to rectify it.
The news was confirmed earlier on Wednesday. The former Bologna man is expected to be sidelined for most of the year.
Tomiyasu is not anticipated to return until December, as per reports.
Gabriel Jesus also underwent a knee operation earlier last month. The Brazilian could return during the same period.
Kai Havertz had a hamstring surgery last week, but the German is expected to be fit ahead of the pre-season tour this summer.
Arsenal are without a specialist striker for the rest of the season. Mikel Merino could operate as a makeshift after his sensational brace against Leicester City in the Premier League last weekend.
