Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed a groin injury for Marc Guiu ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion on the road.
The London giants have had a tough time with injuries this campaign and they have suffered another setback with Guiu out with a groin problem.
Speaking in his pre-match presser, Maresca said that the Spanish striker is sidelined with a bad injury and he does not know the extent of the issue.
He said: “Marc unfortunately has a bad injury […] could be [long-term]. [We] are still waiting. It doesn’t look a short injury, it looks a long injury. Exactly how long, we don’t know. Probably weeks or months.”
Chelsea have lacked the cutting edge in the frontline this campaign. Nicolas Jackson has misfired in front of goal over the past couple of months.
Christopher Nkunku has not fared better either. Guiu was anticipated to play more, but the Barcelona graduate will now be sidelined for a while.
