The agent of Juventus defender Andreas Cambiaso has confirmed that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wanted to sign his client during the winter transfer window.
The Cityzens spent more than €200m during the recent transfer window, but their spending spree could have been much higher before the deadline.
Guardiola was keen on bringing Cambiaso to the Etihad Stadium, but a deal did not materialise. City were willing to pay around €60m, but the Bianconeri wanted at least €80m.
Cambiaso’s agent Giovanni Bia has now acknowedged the same in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, he said: “Juventus will explain what happened.
“But I tell you that everything that came out in the papers in relation to the deal is true. It’s true that Guardiola wanted him.”
City are likely to return for the Italy international at the end of the campaign. The Bianconeri could be willing to negotiate for Cambiaso during the summer transfer window.
